boy crazy

always have been, always will be.

one of my favorites has been joseph gordon-levitt. maybe it's the fact i've crushed on him since he was the adorable long haired boy in 3rd rock from the sun. maybe it's the split last name. maybe the fact that my friend said he sat next to him at a phish show once. i dunno.

i found this random quote of his while online stalking him:

"I've played the smart kid, the funny one, the nice sweet one, even the angry one, but never the sexy one."

au contraire, mr. gordon-levitt.
(as evidenced by the above picture from Esquire Magazine July 2009)

but for real. his movies are thoughtful and intentional. they have a greater purpose. they are the kind of movies i can sit (still for 2 hours) and watch. here are a few i love in no particular order, cause i can't figure that feature out yet...

stop-loss (i lost the picture)
this one is amazing. a war movie that is different and leaves you with a sense of peace, despite the outcome of the film. the peace is in the presentation of the truth: the way these men are reacting to this (UNENDING) war in iraq.

i cannot wait to see this one. (i don't actually go to movie theaters...i netflix them-so i gotta wait)

not the best actor/character matches but the storyline is really interesting. (and it has rico from six feet under. i love rico!)

geegsh. weird-o. i didn't really like it until about an hour after i watched it. so i recommend. but perhaps have a craft on hand while you see this one.

not for the faint of heart. or stomach. or really anyone who cannot stand to watch brutal violence. i have worked with child abuse and neglect for 4 years and this movie still gives me nightmares. but it is amazing. and real.

latter days
see this movie immediately-if you haven't already.

this one also.

nice work, sir.
