st. patrick

st. patrick: the patron saint of ireland, though actually never canonized (like many) i believe...rumor had it he was a slave, then escaped and was all mighty and perhaps a little sketchy allowing rich ladies to become nuns (gasp!)...maybe he was just dreamy and wanted some company? ANYhoo...st. patrick's day one of my favs, the celebration of ireland and the irish (although, again patty boy may have been celtic or welsh)...

at one point i read that this is a day for "solemnity and a holy day of obligation." i do feel obliged to wear my green care bear shirt and have a extra beer, thank you! and i wish you the following:

Old Irish Blessing

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

happy st. patrick's day, friends! remember: a good holiday is always one that is not completely validated or substantiated but encourages celebration, inebriation and the donning of seasonal clothing.
"may you live as long as you want and
never want as long as you live"

When Irish eyes are smiling,
Tis like a morn in spring.
With a lilt of Irish laughter
You can hear the angels sing
When Irish hearts are happy
All the world is bright and gay
When Irish eyes are smiling
Sure, they steal your heart away
.

(i love identifying with my irish half. just fits me and my green eyes and my fair skin and my namesake, duh.)
